Updates on our new gate system!

Updated: Nov 3, 2023

It’s been 3 weeks since the new gate system went in, and needless to say it was far from a smooth

transition. We have been working with the gate company, listening to the community and monitoring

driver behavior. This is what we found:

What went wrong

As much as we wanted the 2 nd bar system to work in preventing “follow ins” to our community – it

simply did not work as advertised. The bars were not only causing major bottlenecking for homeowners

when they didn’t work and there was no way for homeowners to bypass the bottleneck at the front

gate. As we all know, it was simply a mess. And what we did observe, is even when the gates opened

correctly – the bars did nothing to prevent the “follow ins” it actually caused drivers to speed up and go

in more aggressively than they would have normally. In the short time both bars were up and

operational – we had multiple times the bars were knocked off, countless events of bars hitting cars,

cars going in through the exit gates and even homeowners kicking the units and damaging the sensors

until the bars lifted. We came up with a plan to wire the bars to the gates so that homeowners could use

their clickers to raise the bar and open the gates and bypass any bottlenecking from delivery drivers and

guests. But with further contemplation – We realized that although this will be benefitting the

homeowner, it will not stop the “Follow ins.” With a cost of $250 in repairs every time the bars got

knocked down (which would be a few times a month if not more) along with the poor aesthetics to our

entrance we felt it was the right move to remove them. They will be removed in the coming days. We

were able to negotiate to get half of the cost of the bars back which was pretty surprising considering

how beat up they were.

Moving forward

We still have an amazing new system going forward

- Homeowners now will be able to bypass any bottlenecking at the kiosk by using their clickers to

open the gate

- If there is no one at the kiosk when you drive up and you registered your car, the cameras will

pick up your plate and open the gates. If you drove in too fast, and the cameras missed your

plate you will still be able to open the gate with your clicker and not have to turn around.

- All cars and plates entering our community will now be recorded!!

- We have an amazing system that allows homeowners to log in and change your gate code, add

new cars and plates, add guests, add vendors and more.

- We have a bright new state of the art screen and kiosk that makes it easier than ever for guests

to dial you to be buzzed in.

We urge all homeowners to still be mindful on giving out your codes and changing them periodically if

you do. If you have any questions or still having issues registering your car and plates – please reach out
